About Md. Amir Hussain (Shaju)
Md. Amir Hussain is an experienced clinical psychologist and independent consultant. He serves as a Senior Clinical Psychologist at the Nasirullah Psychotherapy Unit (NPU) under the Department of Clinical Psychology, University of Dhaka. He earned his M.Phil. in Clinical Psychology in 2015, following his M.Sc. degrees in Clinical Psychology (2009) and Psychology (2005) from the same institution. With over 15 years of experience, he specializes in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Systemic Family Therapy, Addiction Counseling, and Psychosexual Therapy.
Mr. Amir is the National Master Trainer for WHO’s mhGAP program and the NCDC under DGHS, as well as the Master Trainer for UNODC’s “Families UNited” program. He has provided mental health and capacity-building support to organizations like UNODC, USAID, IOM, icddr,b, GIZ-Bangladesh, BRAC, and Dhaka Ahsania Mission. He has also worked with the Bangladesh prison system and judiciary services. Actively engaged in training and workshops on counseling, stress management, mindfulness, and parenting, his research focuses on mental health, addiction, and community-based psychosocial counseling.
