About Md. Amir Hussain (Shaju)
Md. Amir Hussain is experienced clinical psychologist and independent Consultant. As Senior Clinical Psychologist he is also providing mental health support to Nasirullah Psychotherapy Unit (NPU) an outdoor mental health support center under the department of Clinical Psychology University of Dhaka. He earned his M.phil degree from Clinical Psychology in 2015 from department of Clinical Psychology, University of Dhaka, after completing his M.Sc. in Clinical Psychology and Psychology at the University of Dhaka in 2009 and 2005, respectively. His academic journey began with a B.Sc. (Hons.) in Psychology from the same institution in 2001. With over 15 years of experience, Mr. Amir is proficient in various therapeutic techniques, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Systemic Family Therapy, Addiction Counseling and Psychosexual issues.
Mr. Amir is the National Master Trainer of mhGAP programme of WHO and Non-Communicable Disease Control Programme (NCDC), Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and also the Master Trainer of UNODC Universal Family Skills Programme for prevention of Drug Use, Crime and Violence “Families UNited”
Mr. Amir has long experience to serve mental health wellbeing and capacity building support to several UN, National and INGO’s such as UNDSS, UNODC, USAID, IOM, Icddr.b, GIZ-Bangladesh Winrock International, Brac, Dhaka Ahsania Mission etc. He has long experience to work with Bangladesh Prison system and Judiciary services to provide mental health wellbeing support.
Mr. Amir is also deeply involved in facilitating training and workshops on several mental health issues such as-, basic counseling skills, anger management, stress management, mindfulness, positive parenting etc. His research and consultancy work focus mental health, substance addiction and community-based psychosocial counseling. His extensive expertise and contributions to clinical psychology have made him a dedicated professional in his field.
